Twilight And The Vampire Obsession

June 16, 2010 by Traci

All I seem to hear about these days is Twilight this, and Twilight that.

Edward, Edward, Edward.  (insert crowd of teenager girl’s/grown adult women’s screams here)

Even new television shows are following in this Vampire Obsession!  Personally, I don’t get it.  When I look at these pictures, all I see is blood, death, and dripping evil.

Trust me, I know it is just a fairy tale, but why would I want to fill my mind with such evil and darkness?

Please correct me if I am totally off base.  I have yet to read any of the books or watch the movies.

I would like to know your thoughts about it?  Do you think it is okay to watch/take part in this new phenomenon of idolizing vampires?  Please weigh in…

Here are my reasons why I don’t think it is something for Christians to partake in…

Did you know, a vampire is:

A blood-sucking ghost; a soul of a dead person superstitiously believed to come from the grave and wander about by night sucking the blood of persons asleep, thus causing their death.
The persons who turn vampires are generally wizards, witches, suicides, and persons who have come to a violent end, or have been cursed by their parents or by the church.

One who lives by preying on others; an extortioner; a bloodsucker.
Is this the ultimate bad-boy image?
 A vampire?  Really?
Is the FORBIDDEN fruit that tasty?
If I remember correctly, it brought death.

Genesis 3:1-3  “Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made.  And he said unto the woman, Yeah, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?  And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:  but the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.  And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die.”
