17 Practical Ways To Help You Stay On Track With Your Fitness Goals

January 11, 2010 by Traci

1.Winter can get you down in the dumps, for sure! Think Spring: warmer weather, new life, hope! Also, Spring means no more baggy sweaters to hide the flab behind! So get moving NOW!

2.
Make Healthy Choices

We didn’t get overweight overnight. Each choice to indulge in empty calories led to where we are today. Start making healthy choices, every day, every minute. It will eventually lead to a healthier YOU!

3.
Clean Out Your Closet

Take out all the clothes that are way too baggy/frumpy looking. Bag em up and give them away! Only display stuff that fits you comfortably NOW. Hang up one “goal outfit” that you might have. A “next size down” motivation to keep in sight.

4.
Clean Out Your Cupboards and Fridge!

Get rid off ALL THAT JUNK that tempts you everyday! For your children and your hubby, you say? Still get rid of it. Start making healthy choices for YOU and THEM!

5.
Don’t Eat After 7 PM

Believe it or not, this is one of the BIGGEST things that helps me lose weight (and the HARDEST). Your body needs time apart from food. Let it do its work… that grumbling in your tummy is a good thing… it’s doing what it is suppose to, burning that fat away!

6.

If you fail to plan….. you plan to fail! Get organized! Plan your workout for the week on a calendar. What about your meals? Plan them ahead of time.

7.

Set Your Alarm Clock!

If your only time to exercise is in the morning (like me), set your alarm! Plan to get up. Think about it. Dream about it, if need be! Set out your clothes and shoes the night before. Set your coffee pot to brew first thing when you get up!

8.
Spice Up Your Exercise Wardrobe

I just got a new workout outfit with some Christmas money at Old Navy (only to be worn in the privacy of my home BTW).

Check out Old Navy’s Great deals:

Old Navy’s Activewear

Just having this new outfit got me up this morning and excited! It’s the little things!

9.

Cut Out A Picture In A Magazine

Cut out a picture in a magazine of a person that looks fit and healthy.

10.
Put Up Inspiring Verses & Quotes Around The House

A Moment on the lips, A Lifetime on the HIPS!

Memory Verse

Hebrews 12:1

“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us”

Tips To Stay Full Longer

12.
Shower First Thing In the Morning and Dress Your Best, (Even Around The House)!

Shower every morning, first thing! You will feel better. Also, dress your best (even around the house)… you will be amazed at how much better you feel, just from doing these simple things!

13.
Set Short Term Goals With Small Rewards

A short term goal I have is to lose 10 lbs in January. If I do this, I might get myself a cheap pair of pretty jewelry.

14.
Brush Your Teeth!

This helps curb cravings! Every time you want that piece of chocolate and cheesy chips, grab your tooth brush and scrub away!

15.
Drink Lots Of Water!

It flushes out those nasty fat cells and keeps you full longer. Sick of cold water? Why not try heating up some water in the microwave… sounds weird, but it is surprisingly relaxing and good!

16.
Fill Your Grocery Cart With Healthy Options

17.
Pray. All day long!

The Lord knows your heart. He knows how much you want to stay disciplined, stay on track, and meet your goals. You can’t do it alone. Ask Him to help you, all day long.
