In yesterday’s post, I talked about cleaning our appliances.  I showed off reluctantly displayed my filthy stove:

I asked “what is a good way to clean in between those pesky pieces of glass?”


Jessica kindly answered with this comment:

“I have a good way to clean the oven glass, but it’s not easy. Have someone help you….the glass is screwed to the door with a bracket. Unscrew it, and you can easily clean it, but it’s a two person job….trust me.”

I ignored the “but it’s not easy” and “it’s a two person job….trust me” part.





It was about 1:30 in the afternoon and I got motivated by my son.  He emptied out all my pots and pans and climbed inside:


I got way over-zealous and impatient/impulsive.  

Error in thinking #1:



“That Jessica doesn’t know what she is talking about.  I can totally take this stove apart by myself!”


Well, as I started to take out screw after screw, It sure seemed easy!  My pride and satisfaction in my strength and abilities grew and grew.

Note To Self:  Proverbs 16:18:  “Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.”


and then there was another layer
… and another…

The more screws I removed, the more layers there were!!!!  I was looking at the screws wondering, “What on earth have I gotten myself into.  I am horrible at putting stuff back together!”  Really horrible!

Error in thinking #2:
Not to mention my wardrobe for the cleaning fiasco:
Even Sarah Mae, and her 
Get Dressed, crew would have suggested I change my clothing!

And my wise choice of footwear:

I immediately prayed, “Lord give me help…. or there’s no way I am going to figure out how to put this back together!”

And I continued to clean . . . what else was I going to do?  hehe  

I used my super-cool-fabulous new cleaning product!



I used a sharp knife to clean away all the caked on goop… 

I used an old toothbrush to clean between the cracks.  Yup, I know.  Enough to gross anybody out!  Don’t worry, I threw that bad boy out!

Then I cleaned out the bottom drawer:

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
I probably burned about 400 calories during this whole procedure ( 2 hours).  I have no idea how I got the thing back together, other than God’s help!  
Although I’m glad I did this cause it needed it so bad,
next time I will either get my husband to help,
or buy a new stove!
