Sharing My LOVE: A FREE Blog Header and Button Toutorial

April 21, 2010 by Traci

 My First Secret Love

Go to Scrapblog and create a free account.  Play around with the program by creating on a blank page.

You can change your:

  • background
  • add stickers
  • add text

Free To a Point

Many images/backgrounds/packs are free, but some cost money.  It all depends on how much you like it/if you want to spend the money.

You can bring images to the front/back & flip them vertically/horizontally.  You can upload your own pictures and add them to frames.

If you want to leave the brain work out of creating, select a pre-made template/theme.  You can delete images/text and add your own photos to existing frames.  It is super fun!

Saving Your Creation To Jpeg Format

When you are happy with your creation, you need to do the following:

#1 Save it.
#2 Hit I’m Finished.
#3.Publish and Share online (this is a new requirement so I just email it to myself).
#4. Export it as a jpeg (upper left hand corner select File, export as jpeg in the drop down menu) to your desktop.

Once you have your image saved in jpeg format, use an editing program (if necessary) of choice to crop it.  I usually use Photoshop Elements or Microsoft Office Picture.

My Second Secret Love

If I have more editing to do, I will upload it next to Picnik.
Uploading Your Header To Blogger

If you have created a new header for your blog site, go to the layout page and click on “edit header”.  Upload your new header (select “instead of header and description” and “shrink to fit 860 pixels wide) and save!

Blog Button Image

If you have created a new blog button image (like the one I created to the left), now is the time to transform it into a button.  When I was first getting into blogging, It seemed like I searched for hours on how to make a button.

My Third Secret Love

Upload your image to Photobucket and grab the html direct link.  You will need this to create your button code.

Go here to learn how to covert your super-awesome image into a blog button!  You will also learn how to create a scroll box code for others to grab your button!

Did this help you?  Have any questions? This post/advice was given to you out of the goodness of my heart.  Please pass this along to others if you think it will help them.  BUT PLEASE be so kind and give me some link love (aka: link back to this post/my blog)?  Thanks, you are the best!
