I want to be awake. To walk around with eyes wide open, expectant of what God has for me today. Not groggy, dripping with anxious thoughts and condemning reminders, but free to be hopeful of what God can do through me.
Most days, in my own strength, I’m the opposite of awake. Asleep. If I am asleep I miss out on the blessings of the day. God wants to bless me! He waits, like a parent watching His child take her first steps. What does choosing to walk through the day, wide awake like?
Expectancy.
Hope.
Joy.
Light beaming on the soul.
Peace.
Contentment.
Obedience motivated by love.
And so, today… I choose to walk this day, eyes – wide – open. Why? Because asleep, I simply miss out on HIM!
Sarah Reeve’s Awaken lyrics say,
“God of life You do not sleep
You live and move and breathe with us
Let us see Your love
Brilliant as the risen sun
Lord rescue every one of us
Let Your kingdom come
For only You will break the darkness.”
AWAKE
Thanks for visiting!

I pray that you will never miss out on what God has for you. Your post is encouraging and really, I want to be awake the way you describe it, too.

So true. The horrible thought that you’ve missed out on what God has planned … what God’s calling you to. I think you’ve echoed a lot of women (and probably men too) today.
Thank you!
Blessings,
Felecia
“Asleep, I simply miss out on Him.” So true!
Great post. I too want to be awake to Him!
What a great reminder for the day
“Asleep, I simply miss out on Him.” You make me want to never sleep again 😉
great! awesome. I pray today you truly SEE the wonders around you. did you read 1000 gifts? if you have an iphone there’s an app for it…and really helped me to see the gifts and blessings around me.
I am reminded of the verse “For this reason it says, “Awake, sleeper, And arise from the dead, And Christ will shine on you.” Ephesians 5 i think….have a very blessed day
Great post Traci…I especially loved this “Not groggy, dripping with anxious thoughts and condemning reminders, but free to be hopeful of what God can do through me.” Amen to that!
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
I needed this today. Sometimes I just want to stay in my comfort zone (yawn) so thank you for the encouragement to WAKE UP!
I’m taking baby steps towards that in my post today if you want to take a peek:

Never wanting to miss out — yes, I agree!
Very true.
Beautifully put. Never thought about it that way. Glad to have stumbled upon your blog.
Simply and beautifully said. If we aren’t awake, we can’t see all He has for us. Enjoyed visiting today!
I don’t want to miss out on the movement of God or any of the blessings He has planned for me. May I always live fully awake.
Many blessings!
Ooh, I love that. I had forgotten about the verse about God never sleeping. He’s the one that’s always awake!
Awesome! So glad we met today! 🙂
“…Not groggy, dripping with anxious thoughts and condemning reminders, but free to be hopeful of what God can do through me…”
Oh how I am learning about this too…Emily Freeman wrote a post on this yesterday…the anxieties…and giving them to Him. SO GOOD!
Thank you for your words and for coming by my blog last week!
