I’m reading The Ministry Of Motherhood by, Sally Clarkson and boy it’s good!
Sally says in chapter 6, “But what a privilege it is to have been included in bringing about this miracle of calling. What a great idea god had to use mothers as a part of that process–of helping to inspire our children to God’s purposes and walking alongside them as they learn to make the choice of leaving the world.
Matthew 6:19-21,24
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.”
Most of the time I feel my days consist of refereeing, teaching mundane tasks, trying to force down somewhat balanced meals, and getting to bed without any blow-ups or melt-downs (I’m talking about mommy)! Maybe you feel the same.
But, in it all… we have a much grander purpose! We have the privilege to come alongside them and point them to Jesus! We can say things like, “Susie, you have such a bright personality. Maybe God will use you in ___________ way?”
In chapter 5 Sally says, “As mothers, we have the hearts and trust of our children from the earliest moments of their lives, and they need us for so many reasons. They naturally look to us for physical sustenance, protection, affection. Deep in their hearts, however, they also long for a special place to belong, a place to feel their worth, and they need us to help them find it. These special children were designed to fulfill a purpose for God by bringing His glory to bear through their lives.“
Thanks for visiting!

Oh so true! I needed to hear this today. Thank you for the reminder that the ordinary isn’t quite so ordinary…
