Thank You Mommy!

March 23, 2011 by Traci

There are days… and nights… and days… and nights… that seem to drag on.  The mundane.  The same routine.

The dark mommy-circles under the eyes tell it all.

The whining.

The fighting.

The disobeying.

The unthankfulness.

The sickness.

The messes to pick up.

The days that seem to drag on.

The lack of adult-interaction.

The feeling that I might be missing out on, something?

But then I see their little faces, and I know… oh yes, I know, it is all worth it.  I LOVE being their Mommy.  I LOVE every moment, the good and the bad.

Thank you to all the Mommies out there!  You are doing a wonderful job.  I saw this on facebook and had to include it in a blog post:

So you ask…Do I work? Uh yes, I work 24 hours a day. Why? Because I am a Mom. I am an alarm clock, a cook, a maid, a teacher, a therapist, a nanny, a nurse, a handyman, a security officer, a photographer, a counselor, a chauffeur, an ATM, a jungle gym & a comforter. I don’t get holidays, sick pay or days off. I work through the DAY &… NIGHT. I am on call at ALL hours. Re-Post if you are a proud Mom!!
What does being a Mommy mean to you?

Traci, What a great post. Being a mommy is a hard job. But it is so worth it.

Another great post Traci. What does being a mommy mean to me? I see it every day in my adult children: achievement, proud, fulfillment, job well-done, and love. But I do remember everything that you listed, just like it was yesterday (especially the dark, lack of sleep circles under the eyes).

Being a Mommy is who I am. Sure, there are independent things about me, but, the most important element that makes me who I am is being a mommmy! It’s hard. It hurts. More than I could’ve ever imagined. It’s a lifetime of sacrifice. But, I cannot imagine a lifetime without it! My cup runneth over!

I love this Traci 🙂 Being a Mommy is having the wonderful priviledge of teaching your children all about life and godliness. Pointing them to Christ and then seeing the fruit is worth morth than their weight in gold! Thanks for the reminder because there are days and moments that it seems to be too much to handle; but the Lord is faithful to give us the grace for each day and blessings when we don’t expect them.

While being a stay at home mom is great, the working mom is often forgotten. Working moms also have to clean their house, cook, and make sure their kids are taken care of. That is a full time job, without the luxery of the daytime to do it all in. I get tired of hearing SAHM’s saying they don’t want to get up and get the house clean, yet again. Please remember, that working mom’s have to get up (there’s no PJ days for us), get the kids ready and ourselves. When we come home, there’s still dinner to serve, dishes to do, laundry to fold, and toys to be put away. Our houses are just as clean and our family still eats, there’s just not that luxery to stay and home and face “another day with the kids”. Be thankful you can do that.

    To the working Anonymous Mom:

I never said anything about just stay at home moms. Working moms are still moms who have to do it all to (in a different way).

I’m sure you are a wonderful Mommy! Thank you for your faithfulness to your family. This was a THANK YOU to all Mommies out there, not just stay at home ones.

Sorry if there was any confusion. I am very very thankful to be home all the time. Just meant to be an encouragement.

    Love in Christ,

Blushing with your delicate, rosy hue, a gentle b Blushing with your delicate, rosy hue,
a gentle breeze blows through fresh, new blooms.
Your time is fleeting, yet faithful,
a promise of beauty each spring.

Gifting petals that fall to the earth,
You are waiting for me to visit you.
Basking beneath warm shadows,
Deeply breathing in nature’s favorite perfume.

A legacy of faithful promise,
Graceful, elegant, familiar and kind.
As the sun streams through branches,
Your reflection twinkles and twirls,
Leaving your dance card upon my heart.

You whisper, come linger a little longer,
No need to be in such a rush.
Through storm clouds, torrential rain,
and those picture perfect days,
You continue your steady climb toward the heavens.

Your limbs grow stronger, your roots deeper still.
Your humble beauty speaks for itself.
No need to shout, nor beg for attention.
You hold the secrets of many who return year after year,
Who sit beneath your branches,
and find healing to bloom as well.
