March 31, 2011 by Traci

I’m using this book (Teach Your Child To Read In 100 Easy Lessons) with our daughter and I’m LOVING IT!  How did you teach your child to read?  I highly recommend this book.

Reading unlocks an endless world of possibilities!

Oh my goodness! My mom used that book to teach me and my brothers to read, and I must say I am a really good reader! I love it, but haven’t seen anyone use it in years! I plan on using it with Adam!! So glad you like it!

My son had a LOT of difficulty learning to read. We tried SEVERAL options. The one that has worked the best has been http://www.explodethecode.com/

    We LOVE it!

I’ve been using this book (somewhat loosely) with my five-year old daughter. Though we’re not yet half-way through the book, her reading ability has taken off like a rocket! She is sounding out words much more difficult that I had expected for her age and absolutely loves reading. We couldn’t be more pleased!

i used this with all four of my children with excellent results…and they each have a different learning style too…we would always stop and move on to other reading books about halfway through when they had grasped reading fairly well…glad it’s working for you!

This is the book I used to teach my younger daughter when I homeschooled her. Great book! I also used the Charlotte Mason method, which is very literature based and can be used not only to homeschool but in connection with traditional education. 🙂

    Thanks Traci,
I am planning on homeschooling and teaching reading is the most terrifying part to me!

    Traci,
I had to laugh when I saw your post. I just started this with my almost 5 year old yesterday!

I use the same book, loooooove it! Just figuring out where to take th em from there is the hard part, because they become such good readers!

Love this book! My daughter is close to finishing it and I am so pleased with the results. I am also using the “I Can Read It Myself!” series from Sonlight Curriculum. It’s great because the stories are good and they feel more like real books than this one does. We supplement with “Explode the Code.” So many great resources available to us!

We used a variety of things-K12 phonicsworks has been good. 🙂
We also Sonlight- so, reading, reading and more reading are just part of our everyday thing…

    Enjoy your reading lessons!

Wonderful book!! I’ve used this with four of my six so far along with explode the code. I’ve never done the writing portion of the book, but love it and have had mine for 11 years now and it is still holding strong! 🙂

Blushing with your delicate, rosy hue, a gentle b Blushing with your delicate, rosy hue,
a gentle breeze blows through fresh, new blooms.
Your time is fleeting, yet faithful,
a promise of beauty each spring.

Gifting petals that fall to the earth,
You are waiting for me to visit you.
Basking beneath warm shadows,
Deeply breathing in nature’s favorite perfume.

A legacy of faithful promise,
Graceful, elegant, familiar and kind.
As the sun streams through branches,
Your reflection twinkles and twirls,
Leaving your dance card upon my heart.

You whisper, come linger a little longer,
No need to be in such a rush.
Through storm clouds, torrential rain,
and those picture perfect days,
You continue your steady climb toward the heavens.

Your limbs grow stronger, your roots deeper still.
Your humble beauty speaks for itself.
No need to shout, nor beg for attention.
You hold the secrets of many who return year after year,
Who sit beneath your branches,
and find healing to bloom as well.
