Praying God’s Power In Your Children’s Lives

January 29, 2011 by Traci

I just love how the Holy Spirit works.  Sometimes He prompts my heart to pray things I don’t even realize I’m praying.  Like the other day…

I prayed, “Lord, make your power real in my little children’s lives.  I ask that you would prompt their little hearts to talk about you, ask questions about you, etc.”

The prayer ended and I went about my business.  Over the course of the next couple weeks, it hit me…

Riley, (our 4 year old) has been bringing up the things of God more.  Recalling verses she memorized.  Talking and asking questions about God’s Word.

Carson, (our 2 year old) reminds me to pray at our meals.  Yes, a 2 year old reminds me to pray.  Thank you, Jesus.

Never underestimate the power of prayer, and the power of our Mighty God to come running to answer it in our children’s lives.

He loves childlike faith.
He loves the fresh, unhurried life they live.
He loves how they remind us how to really trust and obey.

So keep praying, weary Mama.  Keep praying.  God hears your cry.  Never underestimate those times on bended knee… praying for their eternal destiny.

God is listening.  He will show up.  He’s never, ever a second too late.

Romans 8:26 “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”

Traci, great advice! As the mom of two teenagers I can assure you that prayer works! Start praying early and never let up – their lives depend upon it!

What a great, great post!! As a dad I love hearing these kinds of stories! Some of the same things we prayerd for our threee. And last weekend my wife and I got to hear our son speak to 350 teens at a youth conference. I have some pics posted now. Your kids will be involved in the same kind of ministries. Good parenting!!

My 6 year old is already a prayer warrior! She loves to pray and is quick to remind me to stop and pray for even the little things. Thank you Jesus!
    Great post!

LOVE this post! Love how childlike faith make us think of our own. Our middle child first word was “Amen” after we prayed 🙂

training then in the way they should go is a big mandate but done in prayer and with the faith that God will, will be done is wonderful!

I loved this post, Traci. I do believe in the power of the praying parent (that’s also the title of a book by Stormie Omartian). My husband and I pray for our family and intercede for them (especially our daughter who is away at college) every Sunday. We also pray during the week individually, but Sundays we join together to pray and I KNOW those prayers ascend to heaven like incense. I see the results. Recently, we got a phone call from the principal of the school we wanted our daughter to attend. We’d left the registration way too late and knew it would take a miracle but we stormed heaven with prayer and God came through for us. Praise God! Keep on blogging, your posts are so inspiring! God Bless!

Oooooh, needed that encouragement today. I *know* it’s true – that God hears and answers prayer – but I need to *know* it in my heart too. How often Satan comes and whispers, ‘You really think God is listening to *you*?’….. and so often my heart responds with a deflated sigh, thinking of all the reasons why I don’t deserve for God to listen to me, forgetting that we deserve NOTHING – it’s all His grace.
    Thanks for postingx

Blushing with your delicate, rosy hue, a gentle b Blushing with your delicate, rosy hue,
a gentle breeze blows through fresh, new blooms.
Your time is fleeting, yet faithful,
a promise of beauty each spring.

Gifting petals that fall to the earth,
You are waiting for me to visit you.
Basking beneath warm shadows,
Deeply breathing in nature’s favorite perfume.

A legacy of faithful promise,
Graceful, elegant, familiar and kind.
As the sun streams through branches,
Your reflection twinkles and twirls,
Leaving your dance card upon my heart.

You whisper, come linger a little longer,
No need to be in such a rush.
Through storm clouds, torrential rain,
and those picture perfect days,
You continue your steady climb toward the heavens.

Your limbs grow stronger, your roots deeper still.
Your humble beauty speaks for itself.
No need to shout, nor beg for attention.
You hold the secrets of many who return year after year,
Who sit beneath your branches,
and find healing to bloom as well.
