Psalm 119 Week 2

December 3, 2009 by Traci

I have to be honest… I haven’t had a chance to work on memorizing this week. But I’d love to hear from those of you who have been!

What’s working?

How had the Lord been blessing you with regard to memorizing and hiding His Word in your heart?

One thing that has always been helpful for me is writing a verse down over and over on a full sheet of paper. Writing scripture over and over and seeing in on the paper helps “lock it into your mind”… and then your HEART! 🙂

Here is the Be Blessed Button code for you to copy to your sidebar:

Oh good! I’m glad I’m not the only one, *blush*. But I am picking up where I left off. In fact, I did learn something that I will remedy for my next 8 verses…print off more than one copy of my verses. Because I keep leaving my ONE copy inside my journal to view before bed time. BUT, it would be so helpful to have one stuck to my kitchen window while I do dishes, or any number of other places I frequent. 🙂 So that’s what I will add to my memorizing.
I’m glad you don’t feel like you have to rush or be defeated because of getting of track. It is bound to happen. Let’s just keep moving forward! Thanks so much!! 🙂

One way I have found that helps is to put on some quite, meditative music, like the sound of rain or Tibetan singing bowls or ocean waves, and read the scripture over and over again. Each time I read it, I read it slower, focusing on each and every word. Lectio Divina…it’s a spiritual practice I learned about in seminary.

I wrote each verse on an index card and carried them with me in my bag. This way when I was on the bus and had extra time to spare, I could go over them 🙂

Not memorizing well, but definately meditating well! I leave my Bible open and keep going back. I looked up some of the words in Hebrew. The amazing ones I found are vs. 2 ‘keep’ (guard, protect, maintain, obey), and ‘seek’ ( to tread or frequent, follow in pursuit or search). Another amazing meaning is vs. 15 ‘meditate’ (to ponder, converse with oneself, declare, pray and talk with).

These are deeper, richer insights into the language. Then to put it in my own words; “to frequent and be in pursuit of God’s own words with my whole heart” is my calling. Also using His words in my conversations and prayers.

I am also thrilled to know that as I meditate and frequent God’s Word, I will not be ashamed, and less likely to sin against Him. That will be a worthy prize. It is an excellent challenge. Thanks

I’m so glad I’m not the only one who missed this week. It’s been a full week…brand-new little one. Hope to catch up this week with posts.

Blushing with your delicate, rosy hue, a gentle b Blushing with your delicate, rosy hue,
a gentle breeze blows through fresh, new blooms.
Your time is fleeting, yet faithful,
a promise of beauty each spring.

Gifting petals that fall to the earth,
You are waiting for me to visit you.
Basking beneath warm shadows,
Deeply breathing in nature’s favorite perfume.

A legacy of faithful promise,
Graceful, elegant, familiar and kind.
As the sun streams through branches,
Your reflection twinkles and twirls,
Leaving your dance card upon my heart.

You whisper, come linger a little longer,
No need to be in such a rush.
Through storm clouds, torrential rain,
and those picture perfect days,
You continue your steady climb toward the heavens.

Your limbs grow stronger, your roots deeper still.
Your humble beauty speaks for itself.
No need to shout, nor beg for attention.
You hold the secrets of many who return year after year,
Who sit beneath your branches,
and find healing to bloom as well.
