Even After Losing 45 Pounds, I Struggle

June 18, 2013 by Traci

Even after losing 45 pounds and becoming a coach with The Grace And Strength Lifestyle, I still struggle.  Some days are good, some days are bad.  That’s life.  I will never arrive.  Yes, I’ve found amazing freedom in the area of food addiction.  I’ve come so far.

Coming so far does not mean
the absence of temptation or struggle; it
means you have to fight harder  and smarter.

Learning your weaknesses means facing the fact that you may struggle for a lifetime.  You may be learning for a lifetime.  I’m okay with that.  I love learning, and God is never done with His children.  He loves us to much to leave us alone in our mess.

He is continuously drawing me to Himself
and whispering, leave that at my feet.
Walk in grace.  Walk in freedom.

As I was watching television last night, something was said that really cut to the core of me.  They were talking about the devestation that storms and can cause, specifically hurricaine Sandy.  The genetlemans home was almost completely and utterly destroyed.  He said,

“It’s amazing how a lifetime of storing up
all these good things can be taken away
in an instant by one bad thing.”

Am I willing to throw away all I’ve learned for the sake of indulging in foods that make my mind weak, body weak, and will weak?  No, I’m not!

Another profound thing I’m learning is that I need to love and respect myself.  Now before you think I’ve gone all heretical and such, listen to me for a moment.

If I can’t respect the body God gave me, if I don’t think I’m worthy, if I don’t care about myself, I will treat it poorly.  I’ll throw away all the tools I’ve been given and just mindlessly eat junk until I’m right back in the bondage and death grip that left me almost for dead.

And so, I will learn to speak life into myself each day.  I will tell myself over and over, until I believe it and treat myself that way!

“God has made you capable, strong, and beautiful”

With God’s grace and strength, I will find my joy and purpose in Him.  I will daily learn what it means to be content.  I will put clean, life-giving foods into my body.  I will exercise and tone my body to make it strong and able.  I will…
