You Have Strayed From the One Who Can Make Your Heart Whole

July 11, 2013 by Traci

Sometimes we cozy up to sin.  We settle for less than God’s best in our life.  It may look glazed over and beautiful, but the undercurrents breed putrid algae.

It’s only a matter of time before the remnants of compromised living rears its ugly head.  It does.  It always does.

Hold your life up to the standard of God’s living Word.  He alone, causes the heart to leap with joy.

If you are constantly seeking the next thrill in your life, know that a thrill-seeking life will leave you emptier than when you began.

For you have forgot your first love.  You have strayed from the One who can make your heart whole.

Remember that sin will always leave your soul wanting.  It never satisfies and just like that piece of decadent, double-chocolate fudge delight, a slice of sin always leaves you wanting more.  It eats away at your core and creates a cavity to welcome more sin.

The heart was meant to crave God.  His Word provide streams of living water.  You are meant to come to it daily, and find true refreshment.

I was reminded of this as my littlest was snuggling with his soft blue blanket, dampened with urine.  He had wet through his diaper and laid on his blanket last night.

But he’s still carrying that blanket around with him, snuggling it close to his side.

Sin is like a urine-stained blanket.  We get caught up in the cozy feel and soft touch and forget it smells putrid.

Psalm 1:1-3 AMP

1 Blessed (happy, fortunate, prosperous, and enviable) is the man who walks and lives not in the counsel of the ungodly [following their advice, their plans and purposes], nor stands [submissive and inactive] in the path where sinners walk, nor sits down [to relax and rest] where the scornful [and the mockers] gather.
2 But his delight and desire are in the law of the Lord, and on His law (the precepts, the instructions, the teachings of God) he habitually meditates (ponders and studies) by day and by night.
3 And he shall be like a tree firmly planted [and tended] by the streams of water, ready to bring forth its fruit in its season; its leaf also shall not fade or wither; and everything he does shall prosper [and come to maturity].
