7 Toiletry Items You Always Need in Your Travel Bag

January 25, 2018 by Traci

Every gal on the go needs an arsenal of toiletries to be ready for anything. Whether you’re going across the world or just getting ready at the gym, there’s a few things you should keep in your travel bag that’ll help you prepare for the unexpected. Now, we’re not talking the normal toothbrush and toothpaste (though you can’t forget those either!); there are a few things that you might not think of right away that will come in handy on your many adventures. Check it out!

  1. Baby Wipes, Even if you Don’t Have a Baby…

When you’re constantly on the go, you can feel a little grungy. Jumping from plane to train to plane can make you feel like a walking bundle of germs. Keeping baby wipes on hand can help you freshen up even if you don’t have access to a luxurious hotel shower. Got sticky hands? No problem. A little grossed out by that sketchy public toilet? Give it a wipe down. Forget to pack make up remover? You’re fine. Baby wipes are the ultimate multi-purpose item for all your travel needs.

       2. Magical Healing Lotion (or Something Like It)

For the more adventurous traveler, things can get a little strenuous. After a long day of backpacking, skiing or zip lining through thick jungles, you’re bound to get a few bumps and bruises. To speed up that recovery time, try arnica cream from VitaMedica. Its natural ingredients calm, moisturize and restore bruised skin. Every Betty-Bruise-A-Lot needs this cream in her toiletry collection.

       3. Double up on Triple Antibiotic Ointment

Since we already established things can get a little rough on the road, Neosporin should be a no-brainer! Every well-prepared world traveler should keep a good triple antibiotic ointment on hand. Specially formulated to fight infection and protect open wounds from the outside world, a little Neosporin will help keep that papercut from turning into a bigger problem.

       4. Vitamin C to Keep You Healthy

Traveling can be a cesspool for germs. After hours on plane sharing limited air with the man coughing up a lung in 27C, it’s understandable you might feel a little under the weather. The last thing you want to do on your vacation is be sick, so don’t forget that Vitamin C. The natural immune system booster will ensure you’re feeling your best on all your adventures.

       5. A Thermometer For When You’re Not

Speaking of getting sick, trying foreign foods from faraway lands can be a little bit of a gamble. While going out of your cuisine comfort zone sometimes is the best part of traveling, it can lead to some less-than-desirable outcomes. From food poisoning to discovering an allergy you never knew you had, a thermometer might come in handy more than you think. Keeping one on hand will reassure you that cold or bout of food poisoning isn’t something more serious.

       6. Nail Clippers

A good pair of nail clippers won’t just keep you looking good mid-manicure. In addition to keeping your nails from looking gnarly, they’re good makeshift scissors when you’re in a pinch (which means you can clip the tag off that shirt you bought and wear it out). For something compact, try Tweezerman’s Folding Nail Clippers.

       7. Baby Powder for Just About Anything

Much like baby wipes, you don’t have to be a mom to appreciate the many uses of baby powder. When pressed for packing room, it can help cut down on other toiletries. A small travel-sized baby powder works as a cheap dry shampoo, an easy way to get sand off your skin and can also combat that smell in the shoes you’ve been wearing all day.

When it comes to making a well-stocked travel toiletry bag, looking for items with multiple uses is key. A few items you might not think just might keep your trip from going from an epic adventure to immune-compromised wager. So, go double check that toiletry bag to make sure you have all the essentials for your next ‘round the world romp.

Blushing with your delicate, rosy hue, a gentle b Blushing with your delicate, rosy hue,
a gentle breeze blows through fresh, new blooms.
Your time is fleeting, yet faithful,
a promise of beauty each spring.

Gifting petals that fall to the earth,
You are waiting for me to visit you.
Basking beneath warm shadows,
Deeply breathing in nature’s favorite perfume.

A legacy of faithful promise,
Graceful, elegant, familiar and kind.
As the sun streams through branches,
Your reflection twinkles and twirls,
Leaving your dance card upon my heart.

You whisper, come linger a little longer,
No need to be in such a rush.
Through storm clouds, torrential rain,
and those picture perfect days,
You continue your steady climb toward the heavens.

Your limbs grow stronger, your roots deeper still.
Your humble beauty speaks for itself.
No need to shout, nor beg for attention.
You hold the secrets of many who return year after year,
Who sit beneath your branches,
and find healing to bloom as well.
