The morning comes too quickly and I bury my head into crumpled sheets. I try to ignore the racing thoughts of all I need to accomplish today. Laundry. Baths. Breakfast. Picking up toys. Teaching my little girl how to read. Kissing boo boos. Breaking up spats. Washing dirt stuck on worn dishes.
I squeeze my eyes to shut out the window glare, silently hoping it will slow the mind and time. Just another hour, Lord. That’s all I need.
Dragging my sluggish self out of bed, I grumble with my thoughts. The frown I wear is more noticeable than the crust in my eyes and the bed hair I try to fix.
My children are looking for music to dance to. With each new day they are anticipating hope and joy. New discoveries. Places to explore.
They are looking in my eyes for the music. Your children are looking into your eyes.
Music can be made in the mundane. Its notes can dance around your home with a fresh beat… each new day. The mundane can be filled with tambourines and cymbals of joy in our heart.
The joy in our heart will produce the smile on our face… if we choose to put to bed the grumble in our soul.
Will you make music in your home today? Your children need it. Your husband needs it.
YOU need it.
Psalm 51:8 “Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.”
