Look around you. Go ahead, look.
Now close your eyes, just for a moment.
Open them.
Imagine all you have, all around you… people, things, the unseen yet tangible, would be taken away tomorrow if you did not thank God for them today.
Does this change your perspective on a thankful heart? Start thanking the Lord for everything you would not want taken away tomorrow.
I tried it this morning… my whole outlook has changed. Or been, renewed.
I thanked Him for my family, for coffee, for the table I rest my feet upon, for my ability to think, for my health, and so forth.
Try it… it may just change the way you give thanks as well.
It may even cause you to move from Thanks-giving to Thanks-living.
Just maybe?
Psalm 100
1 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.
2 Worship the LORD with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
3 Know that the LORD is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his[a];
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
2 Worship the LORD with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
3 Know that the LORD is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his[a];
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
5 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
5 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.
