Today my daughter could not have been any more mismatched. She proudly sported an orange hair band, purple shirt, bright red skirt, black leggings, and brown shoes. HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
Enough to push me over the edge. I’m learning to let things go. To not be so OCD. (Side note: I only allow her to dress like this in the comfort of our own home)
When my daughter was born, I use to match her pacifier to what she was wearing. She was the packaged deal. Matching binky, socks, bib, and outfit. A little crazy, I know. I’m over that. Kind of. Okay I’m not, but I can pretend to be!
A three year old can be as mismatched as they want to be, and walk around with their head held high.
But what about our christian life? Does what we say, match up with how we are living? Should it? Most certainly!
James talks about it:
James 1: 22-25
“But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his face in a glass: for he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therin, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.”
Does your life match up with what you say you believe? If it does then take heed, lest you fall. Stay in the WORD. Every day. We need it more than our very breath. More than food.
If your life doesn’t match up, don’t feel condemned. But know that you should sit and examine yourself.
Psalm 139:23-24 says “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”
Have you been away from your LORD? If you truly know Jesus as Lord and Savior, you will be miserable in your sin. Until you return to Him, and get back in the center of His will.
If you don’t know Him, won’t you invite Him into your life today? Here’s how (Click Below):
So, I will let my daughter be as mismatched as she wants. From her head down to her toes. . . but not my life! I need to constantly be checking in with my Father. To look into the mirror of His Holy Word. To see of my words, match with my life.
What about you? What are your thoughts? On life, or can you PLEASE relate to my OCD tendencies to match everything? Please? Anyone?
