Riley got a new “used” bike yesterday.  She’s gotten the hang of riding it pretty quickly.  Although there are training wheels there to guide her, the bike still gets  a bit wobbly and frightens her.  


“Will you keep your hand on my back, Mommy?” 

I guide her along, and she feels safe with me next to her.  As she gets more comfortable, she asks me to let go.  


“I’m okay, Mommy.  You can let go now.”

But the slightest shake in the wheel, I see her stiffen up with fear.  

“Mommy, I need your help!”

Developmental growth and milestones are so exciting!  Especially for a parent, to sit back and watch their child thrive!  It takes me back to those first moments that I had as a child.  

With each new age, it brings exciting and different opportunities.  Just as with a child, any new grown-up change requires a lot of faith and dependence on our Heavenly Father.  He’s right there beside us, every step of the way.  Even though we may not always feel the touch of His hand, during those dark times of life, He promises to never leave us.  He tells us in His Word to ask, and seek Him.  (Jeremiah 29:11-13) 

If my daughter stayed on her little tricycle forever, and did not step out in faith and try a big girl bike, she would be missing out on so much! 

As with us, God wants to show us big and exciting things that He can do in our lives.  This requires stepping out in faith.  Removing ourselves from our soft and cozy comfort zones.  Saying YES to that frightening task ahead, that He is calling you and I to obey in.

Are you staying still in your Spiritual Growth?  Are your long legs still bunched, knees tucked up under your chin, as you continue to ride your tricycle?  God has a bicycle waiting for you! 

It will be a little scary at first, sure.  But don’t you want to feel the wind in your hair and the sun on your face?  As you choose to walk in obedience, you will experience the true joy and freedom that it brings.

What is God calling you to do?  Will you have faith?  Will you choose to obey?

Jeremiah 33:3:  Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

Ephesians 3:20: Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.
