Love Notes Revisted And HOPE

June 7, 2010 by Traci

So I’m feeling a bit better this afternoon.  What is it about a 24 bug?  Really really intense, but thankfully short-lived.  It brought back the “glory days” of morning sickness.  Blaaaaahhh!

Did any of you play the SHMILY game or write a love note?  Click here to read about the challenge from last week.

I decided to write a note and put it on my Hubby’s side of the bed last night.  (Nothing like waiting till the last minute!)  LOL

Random thought:  What determines which side of the bed a spouse sleeps on?  Have you kept “your same side” since your marriage began?

Did you notice the return address:  Traci, 100 You Have My Heart Blvd.

I know, C-O-R-N-Y!

When Tim found the note, he looked confused.  “What’s this?”  He read it and smiled.  “Thanks Babe!  I love you too.”

It was nothing huge or profound, just simply thanking him for all he does for our family.  The way he provides and loves us.  Especially how he loves me.  God gave you your spouse for a reason.  He means for you both to sharpen one another.

Growing up, my Grandparents lived in a little yellow and white house along a river bank.  As kids, we loved to climb down the bank, placing our feet in the cold, rushing water.  We would walk along the rocks, peaking under each new stone for craw fish.
The best part about that house was the ice cream store attached to the side of it!  All I had to do, was walk down 2 little steps and I was in ice cream heaven!  Free ice cream!  What kid doesn’t love that!
One Summer, I stayed for a whole week and helped serve ice cream.  I was maybe 11 or 12, but I felt so grown up and oh-so-cool!  I even  learned how to make waffle cones.  I can still smell that extraordinary aroma fill the air!
On one particular sunny afternoon, I decided to go get some yummy ice-cream-goodness! I placed my bare foot on that first step into ice cream heaven, and lost my footing.
I tripped and caught my fall, left hand on the shelf.  The pain that came at that moment was almost unbearable.  What I thought was the ledge, was a mini hot dog grill, heated up full blast!
The delayed pain sensation soon caught up with the rest of my body!  Man did that hurt!!!
My hand immediately blistered and ached with an excruciating, throbbing pain.  My Grandpa spread some sugary substance all over it.
The pain of getting a burn seems to cut right through your whole body.  Have you been burned in your marriage?  Maybe you have done all you can to restore and love and graciously forgive.  Do you feel hopeless?

Don’t give up.  There is always hope.  If I decided to never step foot in that ice cream store again, for fear of getting burned, I would miss out on my double decker peanut butter fudge ice cream cones!

God has a plan and a future for you and your marriage.  What has He been teaching you?  Do you need some hope today?

Look up. . . Heavenward . . . He is waiting to help you.  Even if He only gives you a perfect peace in the waiting.

Maybe your marriage is a bit like my yard…. a complete weedy mess!

But just around the corner, there is a beautiful flower waiting to bloom

Did you write about marriage today?  Did you play the SHMILY game or write a love note to your spouse?  Link up with your post below.  If you didn’t write a post, but want to simply comment, feel free to do so.  I’m also linking up at Come Have A Peace today (Marriage Mondays), Courtney @ Women Living Well, and Living By Faith (To Love Their Husbands) tomorrow.
