Will You Join Me In Prayer For My Little Nephew?

September 9, 2010 by Traci

January 6th, 2011 update from Jessica (my sister in law):

Dear Family and Friends,

We pray you all had a joyous holiday season!  Thankfully, this will be the last update until Gabe comes!  Last week, I was released from the specialist’s care.  Gabe’s growth has remained steady at 38%, and although there is still a tear in the placenta, the risk of an abruption is very minimal right now.  He could come at any time according to both sets of doctors.  As Kerry (my Pastor’s wife) says, Gabe’s been prayed in there so hard that he’ll probably go full term!  As painful as the increasing amount of contractions are, we know it’s best that he stay put for as long as possible, so that’s the end towards which we’re working!  I’m able to deliver at St. Francis (my preferred hospital) now that I’m to this point.  And we wait!

Thank you all for your prayers and encouragement!  We look forward to announcing Gabriel’s arrival!

Love,

The Littles

November update:  Hemorrhage gone!  Jessica’s body reabsorbed it!

October 5, 2010 Update From Jessica.  Thank you for your prayers!

Dear Family and Friends,

Today was my weekly visit to the specialist’s office.  We got 4 pieces of good news…not just stable news but GOOD news!  There was NO active bleeding in my uterus today which means that all of the hemorrhage has started to clot off!  The area of active bleeding that has been directly over my cervix and feeding off the placenta has moved completely away from that opening and is no longer getting fed from the vessels of the placenta!  My body has started to reabsorb the hemorrhage since it was smaller this week than last.  The baby is even measuring a week ahead of schedule!  I thought with all of that good news that the doctor would ease up on my bed rest, but he’s not going to do that anytime soon as he thinks the bed rest has helped me get to this point.  We still need to get to 24 weeks as that’s ‘viability’.  At this point, if things go along like they are today, I won’t need to be hospitalized at 24 weeks.  I’ll be able to stay home until Gabe’s growing slows or if my water breaks due to all the old blood sitting inside the uterus.  I could still get an infection from all of that blood.  My placenta is still torn, so we’ll be closely watching Gabe’s growth to determine if he’s getting all that he needs from the remaining placenta.

Please keep praying that my body will reabsorb this hemorrhage.  It is fantastic that it’s already starting to do so; we just need it to keep on track so as to not agitate my womb and break my water, give me an infection from so much blood inside there, or start to pull at the placenta more thus affecting Gabe’s growth.

Love,

The Littles

September 9, 2010: This is my beautiful sister-in-law Jessica on her wedding day.  She is just as beautiful on the inside!  She is married to my husband’s brother, Bryan.  They both love the Lord and seek to please Him in all they do!

They have 2 precious little girls, Ava and Eden.

Jessica is 17 weeks pregnant with my little nephew, Gabriel Zachary!  Here’s where the prayers are desperately needed:

At her routine 12 week visit, the doctor found 2 hemorrhages inside of her womb. In the course of 5 weeks, one has passed but the other has grown. It now makes up 75% of the uterine lining.

It is attached to the placenta which is lying partially over her cervix. The placenta has torn away from the uterine wall.

The doctors say that every week she is pregnant is a miracle, and they are truly baffled when she returns pregnant.

Her specialist, who is also a Christian, said that it will be a miracle if she makes it to viability (24 weeks), and that there’s nothing he can do to help her get to that point.
Thankfully he knows that it is our miracle-working Savior who can remedy this whole situation for His glory. As of today’s visit (September 9th), they just want Jessica to get to 22 weeks ( 4.5 more weeks) before putting her in the hospital for daily monitoring and steroid injections.
They don’t believe she’ll be pregnant by Thanksgiving. Gabriel Zachary has grown on track thus far.

There will come a time when what’s left of the placenta won’t be enough to keep him growing…

Will you join me in prayer?  If you are truly serious about lifting little Gabriel Zachary up in prayer, would you leave a comment saying so?  If you would like to add a blog button to spread the word, please copy the link below:
