When I Think I’m Entitled To Something

November 3, 2010 by Traci

A woman that thinks she is entitled to something is on a slippery slope towards disaster.  A mind can take one for a tailspin when it begins meditating on self.
Is the gratitude that flows out of your life as abounding as the grace that has flowed into your life? Nancy Leigh DeMoss.
I worked so hard today, so I deserve this.  I treated my husband with kindness and grace, so I deserve a night out with the girls.  I – I – I will be your demise.
Gratitude is a lifestyle. A hard-fought, grace-infused, biblical lifestyle. Nancy Leigh DeMoss.

When I start focusing on myself instead of preferring one another, I become angry, lonely and unsettled.  Slippery is the slope of anger, loneliness, selfishness and pride which leads into the deep pit of bitterness.  Once you swim in its darkness it is hard to climb out.  Don’t enter that pool; it will swallow you whole.

Thanksgiving puts us in God’s living room. Nancy Leigh DeMoss.
As women, we do deserve some rest.  We do deserve some time to ourselves.  But let God bring about the time and place for your rest.
If you are striving for rest today because you feel you deserve something, choose instead to thank God for all of your small graces.  It is the small graces and joys that fill the heart to the brim, overflowing.  This will be your true rest.
When we give out of gratitude to God, we cause gratitude to well up in others’ hearts. Nancy Leigh DeMoss.
Mommy, I will speak life into now, so listen carefully:  what you do does matter for all of eternity!  Wife, the way you honor and respect your husband speaks volumes to that christian brother and sister that are struggling in their marriage!  It shines Christ’s Light brighter and bolder to even a lost person.
So when you do get that time away, to yourself, you will relish in it, and be truly grateful!  1 Timothy 6:6 “Godliness with contentment is great gain.”
I got the Ever Grateful Large Pitcher yesterday from Day Spring.  I love it!  It says, Thankful for small graces.  Yes, Lord… let me be grateful for each and every small grace you bless me with today.
