She Believed She Could, So She Did

March 4, 2015 by Traci

Do you think we overthink stuff sometimes?  Stick with me…

Sometimes (most of the time) we know the right thing to do and we simply don’t do it.  Call it rebellion, a just I-don’t-care-attitude, or a deep rooted struggle, it all takes a choice to walk in the right direction.  I’m not down playing your struggles.  I truly get how hard they are.

I do!

But I think we can overcomplicate things in our head.  We can be our own worst enemy.  Our own cruelest critic.

I’ve read the above quote before and thought, that’s a bunch of hogwash.  All that “if you believe it in your mind, it will come to be” garbage.  But you know what I’ve come to believe, it’s mostly true!  I’m not advocating that mind over matter supersedes our trusting in Christ’s work in our lives.  That obviously takes precedence as a Christian.

Christ is and will always be my forever source of strength.  He upholds me with His righteous right hand, and all I have or do or accomplish comes from His working within me.

But y’all, God gave us brains to use!  Sometimes simplicity in decision making is the best.  Know what God’s word says, and doesn’t say, and choose to do what is right!

So today, if you woke up with that same old nagging burden on your shoulders, won’t you lay it down with me?

Lay down your struggle with fear and anxious thoughts, and choose to think peace-filled ones.

Philippians 4:6-7 “do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.“

Stop carrying around your burden with food addiction, and choose Christ as your source of joy.

John 6:35 “Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”

Love your husband, the one God gave you, with all your heart (warm fuzzy feelings, or not).

Titus 2:4-5 “And so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled.”

Be content with what you have now, and stop coveting what your girlfriends have… it will leave you empty.

Proverbs 15:13 “A glad heart makes a cheerful face, but by sorrow of heart the spirit is crushed.”

Enough of that worrying about your future, God’s got this!  Trust Him for the outcome.

So today, believe that you can and do it!  Trust God that He has given you the wisdom and discernment to walk forward and accomplish your dreams and yes, even the ability to overcome those addictions.
