Practical Ways You Can Become A Proverbs 31 Woman!

December 15, 2014 by Traci

practical prov 31

Oh the infamous woman of Proverbs chapter 31.  You know the one… that woman that makes you feel horrible and nothing but a failure!  I read Proverbs 31, once again, the other day… and instead I was totally encouraged by this woman of God.  I noticed the joy and peace and total freedom this chapter exudes.  I mean, it’s almost dripping with joy!

It never said that this lady was perfect or never had an off day, but that her life could be described in such a way because of her character and walk with the Lord.  Which one of these could you start working on this week?

Instead of reading this chapter and walking away feeling like a reject, why not strive to make practical changes in your own life that would make YOU such a woman of God!  It’s really not that hard.

Here are some practical ways you can be a Proverbs 31 woman today!

She is far more precious than jewels

You are precious, stop thinking and saying otherwise.

She is capable

You are able.

She is intelligent

You are smart and one of a kind.  He created you special.  Thank Him for this.

She is virtuous

Don’t fill your head and heart with garbage.

Her husband trusts in her

Strive to be trustworthy.  Do things that win and keep his trust.

Maybe this is an area of your marriage that has some scars.  Work faithfully to regain his trust.

Her husband believes in her

Stick to your goals and prove to your husband that he can believe in you.

Her husband lacks nothing

Seek to please your husband emotionally, physically, and spiritually.

She does him good all of her days

Seek to do 5 things a day that are just plain good for him.

She comforts her husband

When he is discouraged, speak words of life into him.

She encourages her husband

Lift his spirits.

She does nothing to harm him

Don’t be his enemy, be his best friend.

She is a hard worker

Do your best to work hard.  It will keep you out of trouble.

She rises early and gets fed with the bread of life

Get your spiritual nourishment for the day first.

She realizes that her spiritual food is what will sustain her and give her strength

This will be the number one thing that will give you strength for all other tasks.

She is not lazy

There is a difference between taking time to relax and living a life of relaxation.

She is a giver not a taker

Don’t be a woman that is only out to get.  Always seek to have a giving mindset.

How can you bless someone else today?

She seeks to bless her household

Your household should receive your very best, not leftovers.

She makes wise choices with money

Be frugal and don’t be an over-spender.  Never hide purchases from your family.

She is not hasty to make purchases before she pays off debt.

Take time to think before you buy.

If you are feeling impulsive, take a deep breath and wait.  Ask yourself, how will this glorify God and bless His Kingdom?

She is frugal, yet not stingy.

Don’t be selfish.

She makes money in order to bless others and to be able to give more.

Save more in order to give more to the needy.

She is works hard to keep her body strong and healthy

Make time to workout and exercise often.

She works hard to keep her mind healthy by right thinking

Physical exercise will help your mind stay sharp.  Meditate on things that are true and holy.  This takes spiritual exercise as well.

She works hard to keep her relationship with the Lord thriving

Stay in God’s Word daily.  Meditate on His truths and seek to have unbroken fellowship with your Heavenly Father.

She sees that her time and efforts are profitable and doesn’t waste time

Don’t say yes to everything.  Seek to say yes to that which is profitable and will have an eternal weight and reward.

She gives to the poor and reaches out to the needy

How can you give to the poor today?  Seek to give as a family.

She is a planner and is prepared for any season

Take inventory of your household goods and plan for the next season

She is dignified

Act in a way that is honorable and respectful.

When others look at you, what are you known for?  How do you dress?  How do you talk?  How do you carry yourself?

She praises her husband, and he is well known in the gates because of it

Never talk bad about your husband, only praise him.

She is happy and hopeful

Don’t take life so seriously.  Laugh a lot.

She opens her mouth and speaks wisdom, not destruction

Speak wise words.  Talk less.

She has a kind heart

If you let God’s kindness shine upon your heart, it will overflow from your lips and bless others.

She is not idle, nor a busybody.

Stay busy doing good things so you don’t get caught up in gossip and worthless talk.

She refuses to taste even a morsel of gossip or self-pity

Don’t even taste a little of it.

She is diligent to raise her children well.  They rise up and bless her.

Live in a way that your children will praise you and bless you.

She is praised by her husband openly

He will praise you publicly because you seek to honor him privately.

She realizes what true beauty is and that charm is deceitful

Remember that outer beauty will fade and is fleeting.

Seek for your inner beauty to outshine your outer beauty.  Many times, inner beauty will make you physically more attractive and pleasant!

She fears the Lord alone

The only way to be lifted up is to fear and honor the Lord.

She lives a life that produces fruit

Bear fruit because of the little choices you make every day to be obedient.

She reveres the Lord

Respect the Lord’s place in your life.  Truly keep Him first above all else.

She loves to worship her Savior, the King of Kinds and Lord of Lords

Let all of your life be an act of worship.

LOVE this!! 🙂 I really don’t much like Proverbs 31 nor any Mother’s Day sermon about children rising up and calling their mothers blessed because I have this silly fear that I don’t measure up … I love your PRACTICAL take on this – and perhaps I can let go of some of my high expectations!! 🙂

Blushing with your delicate, rosy hue, a gentle b Blushing with your delicate, rosy hue,
a gentle breeze blows through fresh, new blooms.
Your time is fleeting, yet faithful,
a promise of beauty each spring.

Gifting petals that fall to the earth,
You are waiting for me to visit you.
Basking beneath warm shadows,
Deeply breathing in nature’s favorite perfume.

A legacy of faithful promise,
Graceful, elegant, familiar and kind.
As the sun streams through branches,
Your reflection twinkles and twirls,
Leaving your dance card upon my heart.

You whisper, come linger a little longer,
No need to be in such a rush.
Through storm clouds, torrential rain,
and those picture perfect days,
You continue your steady climb toward the heavens.

Your limbs grow stronger, your roots deeper still.
Your humble beauty speaks for itself.
No need to shout, nor beg for attention.
You hold the secrets of many who return year after year,
Who sit beneath your branches,
and find healing to bloom as well.
