You paint the skies with brilliant colors and ask me to do the same today. There are days I refuse to break out the colors. I rather enjoy the subdued muted shades of gray and black and murky. Leave me alone under blankets and worn circles under tired eyes; I don’t need anyone or anything but the quiet.
But life wasn’t meant to be lived alone. We so desperately need one another. I need you. You need me.
The same way He brightens up the sky and your children finger paint with wild abandon, He’s asking you and I to paint with brilliant shades into the dreariness of this world’s lonely condition. To break free from your day that cries out to be all about you, and reaches out to a hurting neighbor or a desperately anxious and depressed sister in Christ.
When you refuse to live in a black and gray world…you keep the hope of CHRIST alive.
A simple word of encouragement goes a long way. I can’t wait to allow God to help me to paint another’s dark day with these beautiful cards I just got in the mail from DaySpring! Maybe you’d like to purchase some? They are a great price and they might be priceless in someone else’s dark day.

What a truly beautiful post. 🙂 I love it – it is really inspiring. Thank you for sharing such heartfelt words.
I am enjoying the beauty evoked by Lisa Jo’s choice of the word “paint” today. Living in the Pacific NW, it’s easy to close yourself indoors during the multitude of dark, gray and rainy days we have. You have given me such a boost in my spirit in looking for ways to brighten not only my days with His presence but the days of others as well. Thank you!
