As I read this book, I constantly choked back tears. Good tears. Tears that screamed, “wow she gets me” and “how in the world did she visit my home today!”
Here’s my review I left on Amazon:
Desperate is a timeless book for every mom today. The pages took flight as I pictured mothers, across the globe, rising up out of lonely confinement. Desperate gave me hope for the mother of three little ones. I know that I am not alone in this thing called motherhood. We have the ability to band together as women, and encourage and uplift one another in this high calling. There is a missing piece in our Christian circles today; the beautiful ministry of older women mentoring and teaching the younger women. Desperate, on the other hand, shows the gift of such a relationship. Sally Clarkson, a seasoned mother of four grown, successful and thriving children, reaches out to a young mother of three, Sarah Mae. A God-ordained relationship blossoms and the wisdom gained from this pair has been life-changing for me!
This is giveaway week, and Sarah Mae’s place is all the buzz with giveaways like:

- And More!!!!
Some of my favorite quotes from the book:
From Sarah Mae:
“We have sin-tattered hearts, but Jesus mends them when we lean into Him and trust Him with our lives. There’s the formula, Give Him the bad, and He’ll give you the beautiful.”
“We’ve got to know that, ultimately, the most important thing is laying our children at the foot of the cross and praying that Jesus will call them to Him. He is the author of their souls, and He is the only one who can reign in a broken soul. So pray for your children and show them Jesus.”
“This selfish blood that burns me with guilt and threatens the souls of my children this selfishness cannot live. I need to bleed it and be filled new with the blood of the One who laid down His very life for those He created. This is the sacrifice we are all called to make.”
From Sally Clarkson:
“I see so many young women today who live by fear–fear of what others will think, fear of how they might ruin their children fear of the expectations of other people, fear that they will not fill in all the holes in their children’s lives. I also see women who are afraid to be themselves. Often in this peer-pressured world, a close second-place motivator to fear is legalism, living by rules and works. So many women are exhausting themselves trying to appease everyone’s expectations of them. Following every blog and every piece of advice from books, whether good or bad, they are wearing out themselves and their children. It is vitally important for women to learn how to think biblically for themselves instead of being enslaved to other people’s thoughts and opinions. To truly follow God with everything in our lives, we must learn to develop discernment.”
