When You Are Ripping Open Your Gifts, Remember…

December 23, 2010 by Traci

I sit, typing away at my computer.  In a warm home.  Two babes are tucked in their cozy beds, sleeping.  Husband is wrapping gifts.  Me, in my pink pajama pants, gray gap shirt, sipping hot cocoa.

I ponder Him.  Him that came to a messy place.  For me.  He knew me and loved me before I was knit in my mother’s womb.

He was perfect.  The spotless Lamb of God.  The very essence of Love.

He came as a child.  We need to come to Him with child-like faith.

He came to touch the dirt.  The dirty places and spaces of our hearts.  My heart.

He came and got messy in the mess of this earth.  He sat and supped with publicans and sinners.  How are we ministering to the least of these?  The ones, that Christ calls us to love.  The ones He loves.

He looked people in the eyes; He saw their need.  He was moved with compassion.  We need to see the need in the hurting eyes.  Are we looking?  They are everywhere.

He spoke truth in love; He met people where they were at.  Are we speaking with words of grace and mercy? Our lips need to be instruments of His, not instruments of hurt and destruction.

He was willing to be obedient to His Father, even unto death; for you.  For me.  Are we willing to do the same?  Are we living and breathing to know Him more, instead of being known?

The perfect, spotless Lamb of God, was ripped apart for you and I.  As His flesh was torn apart, you were on His mind.  His heart smiled amidst the weight of it all.  A burden He willingly bore.

As He lifted His body up for a glimpse of a breath, He was doing it for you.

And so… as you are ripping open those gifts… with the pretty bows and neatly pressed edges…

take a moment to remember… He, who was ripped open for you and I… JESUS.

Our Spotless Lamb.

Our Savior.

Christ… Our Emmanuel!

Mark 10:45 “For even the Son of Man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister and give His life a ransom for many.”

Blushing with your delicate, rosy hue, a gentle b Blushing with your delicate, rosy hue,
a gentle breeze blows through fresh, new blooms.
Your time is fleeting, yet faithful,
a promise of beauty each spring.

Gifting petals that fall to the earth,
You are waiting for me to visit you.
Basking beneath warm shadows,
Deeply breathing in nature’s favorite perfume.

A legacy of faithful promise,
Graceful, elegant, familiar and kind.
As the sun streams through branches,
Your reflection twinkles and twirls,
Leaving your dance card upon my heart.

You whisper, come linger a little longer,
No need to be in such a rush.
Through storm clouds, torrential rain,
and those picture perfect days,
You continue your steady climb toward the heavens.

Your limbs grow stronger, your roots deeper still.
Your humble beauty speaks for itself.
No need to shout, nor beg for attention.
You hold the secrets of many who return year after year,
Who sit beneath your branches,
and find healing to bloom as well.
