I sent my comb down the middle of her head, sweeping big locks to one side. She wiggled and turned and I pleaded with her to just look straight ahead {for the forth time}. My frustration was mounting as PROJECT PIGGY TAIL was failing big time!
She complained that it hurt. She mumbled something about needing to look there, and pick up this, and please make it look cute, Mommy?
I was reminded of the way this resembled my own life. As God is constantly trying to make me more beautiful in Him,
I squirm.
I complain.
I turn to other distractions around me.
If I would just listen to His voice, heed His simple instruction of looking straight ahead,
it would save me some unnecessary pain,
it would save me some unnecessary time,
it would save me some unnecessary crooked-hair!
He makes everything beautiful with time. What does He ask of us? Simple obedience and trust.
Are you fighting against the piggy-tails of life today? Look straight ahead…
1 Corinthians 9:24 “You’ve all been to the stadium and seen the athletes race. Everyone runs; one wins. Run to win. All good athletes train hard. They do it for a gold medal that tarnishes and fades. You’re after one that’s gold eternally.” MSG

I have been there — not only with the squirming girl in the chair. But I’ve been that squirming girl. 🙂
Thanks for the reminder.

What a great analogy. And I picture God getting a hold of my pony tail when I get out of line and yanking me back into His will!
