In the trials and chaos of living, we can forgot all that God has done for us. I’ve been reading in Joshua and this passage struck me:
Joshua 4:5-7
And Joshua said to them: “Cross over before the ark of the LORD your God into the midst of the Jordan, and each one of you take up a stone on his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel, that this may be a sign among you when your children ask in time to come, saying, ‘What do these stones mean to you?’ Then you shall answer them that the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD; when it crossed over the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. And these stones shall be for a memorial to the children of Israel forever.”
In 1 Peter 3:15 it talks about giving an answer to every man the reason of the HOPE that is within us. How can we give them an answer if we aren’t paying attention (and REMEMBERING) what the Lord has done for us?
Do you need to take a moment and pick up some stones today?

Traci, thanks for this post. I sent it to a friend (the one I emailed you about). We need to pick up those stones as reminders of the faithfulness of God.

I’ve always loved rocks – I have a basket filled with different shapes, colors, and even a few fossils. Recently I started a new collection…after every race, I pick up a rock to commemorate that run. I’m enjoying watching the jar fill up as a reminder of how far I’ve come (even if my “time” doesn’t show it.)
I’ve also given “stones” as gifts to act as a reminder of God’s faithfulness…as a matter of fact, your blog reminded me that I need to pick up a few to go along with my gifts to graduates. Thanks for the reminder!
