I shove spoonfuls of cereal into my little one’s clenched jaw. Tears are running down his red cheeks, face is firm with an army of stubbornness. Tears are rolling down my innermost being and my army is moments away from bellowing, Retreat!
It had been one of those days.
I sit at the table for dining and my body is drained of all supernatural Mommy grace. Empty.
I hear the rumble of my husband’s truck roll up in the drive. Sweet music.
I will not pour my burdens on him the moment he walks through the door.
I will not pour my burdens on him the moment he walks through the door.
I will not…
My body clenches firm. I say a silent, quick prayer… Lord, help me to wear a smile.
He walks through the door, smiling from ear to ear.
Thank you Lord, he had a good day.
After 6 years of marriage he reads behind my forced smile. He pulls me up into his arms and I bury my head into his chest. My tears unfold onto his work shirt. I brush them off, and bury my head again. He pulls me in, tighter.
He reminds me to breathe as he hugs me close. My shoulders droop and anxiety begins to melt.
Do you have someone that reminds you to breathe? That’s what Emily is talking about over at Chatting At The Sky today.
Thanks for visiting!

That was my day yesterday!
I prayed as well and was given the grace to hug instead of send my child away from me. Praise God for HIS grace when I’m less than a good child to HIM!

I love this post. Enough said

I love the grace that is present in this–not just the grace extended by your husband, but the way you were moved to pray for grace to wear a smile and not pour your burdens on him. Thanks be to God for the times He reveals so clearly that we need His grace!
