Seconds later she came whipping up the stairs, bright-eyed with excitement. “Guess what Mama? I took care of the blocks,” her little voiced boomed with proud exuberance. I came down to find this:
Blankets were thrown over the strewn about blocks. “It’s all better Mama! There’s no more blocks.”
Blocks were still there.
The bag was still empty.
Don’t you and I do this with sin in our life? Do we think that our Heavenly Father, who spoke the world into existence, maybe, just maybe, might not notice? No, surly we know better than that! Then why do we do it?
Pride?
Arrogance?
Down right disobedience?
Are there areas in your life that you have been throwing “blankets” over, to deal with at another time?
Remove the blanket today! Pick up those blocks in your life, by confessing your sin. Be released from the bondage of unconfessed sin. (1 John 1:9)
Then, and only then, you can have sweet, unbroken communion with your Heavenly Father.(Isaiah 59:2: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear. Psalm 66:18:If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me.)
I asked my daughter why she covered up the blocks, and did not do as I asked her.
Her answer: “Because, I didn’t want to pick them up.”
Obedience is always a choice. But it is the best choice. The only choice, for a life full of joy and communion with our Lord. (Psalm 139:23-24: Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.)
