Why is it that we are so obsessed with weight loss? We haven’t seen that friend in ages, and the first thing we notice is their weight. Do they look smaller or bigger since the last time we saw them? We quickly congratulate that friend on how well they look.
Wow, you’ve lost weight haven’t you? You look great!
We are a people that are passionate about overcoming obstacles and conquering goals. Weight-loss and personal discipline is something that we can all relate to on some level. We know the struggle is real and when we see a change in a person’s appearance, we naturally take notice.
Maybe you are on a health journey of your own. It seems like everyone is these days! Maybe you have a lot of weight to lose or just a little, but you are looking for a tangible way to stay the course. Here’s one simple way:
Write a letter (daily if need be) from the YOU in the future, to the YOU today! Something like this:
Hey you! I see you, trying to do this weight loss thing, AGAIN. I know you are frustrated. I know you feel like a big old failure. Please don’t give up! I wish you could see yourself now. You are healthy and confident and you have a huge weight off your shoulders. You can live your life, free from the burden of that extra weight. More than just the physical weight, but the emotional weight! You are free to be you and enjoy your life to the fullest.
Don’t give up! Press on. Drink that water. Eat that piece of grilled chicken and vegetables when you really want to drown yourself in a bowl of ice cream. Choose wisely. Each decision you make will impact your tomorrows. The little things you do, are really big things! Get out and go for that power walk. Run and dance with your kids. Move!
You’ve got this! Press on! I believe that you can do it… and you will.
