Summer is winding down and Autumn is imminent. As seasons change, so do the seasons of motherhood. Some days are hard. Just plain, hard. The hot sun beats down upon our mommy brow, and we sweat great drops of frustration. It isn’t so much the weary that comes from doing the things we are suppose to as moms. You know, wiping bottoms, preparing meals, cleaning up messes… that is just life. But the character building. Teaching and training young ones how to resolve conflict, show love, be self-less, and to stop demanding their own way. Let’s face it, I’m still working on these things too!
But I’m sure gonna miss these days! One day, when my house grows quiet and there is no more fighting and whining and kid-noise, I’m gonna miss it. Even the sandy toys and the messes. I’ll crave the mess. Because with the mess comes great joy and blessing. Children are a blessing and a gift from the Lord.
So I will learn to cherish each moment. The days of reprieve will come, when we will feel the cool sand beneath our feet and wiggle our toes down deep. As the sun sets low and gives us a cool break. Do not be weary in well doing, for in due season you will reap, if you faint not. It will be all worth it! So enjoy the days of the good, the bad and the ugly today.
