I’ve written many posts for the Five Minute Friday Link Up… but never fiction. I really enjoyed it.
Prompt: Lonely.
The sun hung low in the distant sky. Its red glow beamed endlessly across the horizon. She sat there, knees up to her chin with her arms draped across her worn shins. She felt as lonely as the picturesque sun setting down for the evening.
She wondered how she could feel so lonely in a place that screamed with such a sententious atmosphere.
She had always craved being on her own, doing her own thing, marching to her own beat; and now that she was here, she was in a desperate place. Her soul ached and the hollow feeling echoed from within.
Here I am. Where I’ve always wanted to be, and I couldn’t feel more alone.
God was calling her back. Wooing her back to His fold. She had been gone far too long, and her wayward heart was finally listening. Going my own direction had always sounded so intriguing, and yet, it was full to the brim with emptiness.
I hear you, Lord. I’m finally listening with ears to hear.
Proverbs 14:12
The Message (MSG)
12-13 There’s a way of life that looks harmless enough;
look again—it leads straight to hell.
Sure, those people appear to be having a good time,
look again—it leads straight to hell.
Sure, those people appear to be having a good time,
but all that laughter will end in heartbreak.

This is beautiful, and the image fits perfectly! I’ve never thought of writing fiction for FMF…what a cool idea.

Oh my goodness. I read this and it echoed a piece I had written (for me myself and I) about my foray into sin and what almost happened as a result. This was perfect and it gave my heart a jolt. 🙂 Thank you for sharing!

This is amazing, Traci! Wow… I love this – and I am not a fiction writer, but you just may have inspired me to give a try on a FMF to switch it up!
