Have you ever just written for 5 minutes without stopping? Try it out… find out the details HERE. Today’s prompt word is:
Tired. {Go}
Physical exhaustion forces us to pry eyes open as we move through our day. It does not care if I have things to do, people to see, or little ones to mother. It forces me to just lay down on a toy-filled-couch… even for just a moment.
Naps… if I only knew when I was a little child how much I would crave such a gift… uninterrupted time to rest and be.
To sleep, without little, chubby, drooled on hands, prying open my eyes pleading, look at me Mommy. Don’t close your eyes.
I plead back, begging them to give me just two minutes, saying… Mommy is just resting her eyes, she’s not sleeping.
When I crave sleep from the constant threat of physical exhaustion I’m reminded of a day I will crave the noise. The clutter. The messes, because the messes make the mundane beautiful. Beautiful, little, chubby, drooled on hands, prying open these tired eyes… I will some day miss.
My God wants to pry open these eyes as well. He wants me to see Him through grace-colored glasses… to see the freedom I can find in Him.
Oh, physical exhaustion is a guarantee… but may I never grow Spiritually exhausted. There is no need of it… for His Word brings comfort and peace, not a life of legalistic rules and regulations. I will find rest in Him.
Psalm 46:10a: “Be still and know that I am God…”

Oh Traci.. I can so relate to this. I’m in a sort of ‘been there, done that’ phase lately. Its not easy raising another child when the others are practically grown. (the youngest of the lot is 15) My body is tired and I’m mentally fatigued sometimes too. I struggle to hold on to that thought sometimes… one day I’ll crave the mess, the noise, the company.
Thank you for the inspiration.
Have a blessed weekend.

What I wouldn’t give for a nap! My kids are older (my youngest is 8). When they were little they would not ever let me rest. Now that they are older, I never slow down to rest. Oh to be still!
