Parenting refines me like no other thing thus far. As I help little babes grow physically, mentally and spiritually, God is working on this Mama’s heart.
It is full of stretch marks of my broken will, surrendered to His. Sometimes painful, turn-my-head away ugly, at my own failures and inadequacies. But HIS GRACE shines the brightest in my weakness. I surrender all to you, my Lord.
As I walk and teach and bend down to train little ones at eye level… look me in the eyes, and learn from me, I am pointing to the ONLY One who has ever changed this heart for the better.
And so, while parenting is growing future little adults one day, it is etching away at Traci, and making me more like my Father in Heaven.
Deuteronomy 6:7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.
Each day of our lives we make deposits in the memory banks of our children. Charles Swindoll

I have not heard that particular verse that many times and I am so glad that you shared it. As a new teacher, I can really relate to this…being that I’m not a parent yet! Thanks lovely!

So true – I loved this: “And so, while parenting is growing future little adults one day, it is etching away at Traci, and making me more like my Father in Heaven.” And this continues through all of life – loving our children even when they are grown, and walking through the joys and trials of life with them (whether they be grown or little ones in our arms) – always molding us more to His heart. (Thanks for your sweet comment at Pursuing Heart.)

Great post! I think my favorite part was when you were speaking of God working on your heart and said, “It is full of stretch marks of my broken will.” That resonated with me. Thank you for sharing your heart!
