Imagine you are at the grocery store. You’ve finished adding all of your food and necessities into the cart. You’ve paid. Now you head back to your car and start unloading your bags. Then you notice it! Your heart drops. You left your purse in the store!
Most of us have been there. When we are threatened with the thought of losing things dear to us. If I think, for even a moment, that my purse may have been stolen, I freak out! I feel vulnerable and violated a bit.
But what if my BIBLE was taken from me. Never to be replaced. Would I miss it? Is it that valuable to me? More than even my very prized possessions? It should be.
I love the Word of God. I love to study it. I love to let it change me. But I struggle to find time (err, make time) to read it.
It’s not just another book. It is the inspired Word of God. One of my favorite verses is,
“For the Word of God is quick and powerful, sharper than any two edged sword. Piercing even to the dividing asunder, of the soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12
So, now… for some help to get into your bible.
My friend, Courtney, from Women Living Well, and her sweet pal Angela have started a site called Good Morning Girls. It is a beautiful niche of women in the Lord. Go check it out and sign up! I joined a local group of gals in the Spring. Let me tell you what a blessing is has been! We just email one another and share what we get out of God’s Word each day (M-F).
Thanks for visiting!

What a great post, Traci! Our hearts plummet if our material possessions are stolen… but do we value the word of God that much? I think a comparable example would be, what if we had to have the Internet turned off in our homes, or the Bible taken out? Would we hesitate to choose?

Great post. I admit I wouldn’t panic over my bible being stolen, not at all. I am sure I’d be sad but they are replaceable, plus it could wind up being a huge blessing.

Anna…LOL I am stuck on your question too. I’d likely choose the internet because that’s where I tend to study the bible and find commentaries etc. So am I choosing internet over God? I don’t know.
Seriously not being argumentative just thinking today.
