to put pen to paper and fingers to keys,
to direct heart towards Heaven, in the form of lip movement,
hands to clasp and open the Living Word,
a heart to trust the unsearchable Sovereignty of my powerful and loving Lord.
Lord, why do I feel so overwhelmed? There is so much to do, to fix, to teach, to make, to spill out and love my neighbor and leave coddled self aside. How do I keep up with it all?
My dear child, you haven’t been leaning on Me. I am your Strength. I am your All in All. You can do nothing without me.
He gently bids me back, with a firm Arm of love. He pushes me out of bed in the still of the morning, when I long to stay in cozy sheets, head buried beneath the darkness of my pillow.
Instead, I find myself at the table for dining. It is cold, as I hear my fingers unzip the cover. It echos in the silence.
I open the Word. I remember. I say a prayer, Lord speak to my heart. I need You alone.
I find my way to Daniel 6:1-28. I remember it as a children’s story. Really Lord?
I read the words of the LIVING. For His Word is Quick and Powerful, Sharper than the Sharpest Sword.
Daniel was living in a way that no spot or blame to could be put to his name. He was a faithful Servant. He lived, daily, for His Lord. He could always give an answer of the hope that was within him.
The only fault to be found with him, was His loyalty to His Savior. His God. Wow. If only I could live in such a way. There is shamefully far too much in my life to be fleshly accused of.
He was thrown in the den, and not a hair on his head was even thought to be touched by those roaring beasts. The Lord is faithful.
His accusers, on the other hand, all their bones were broken into pieces, before they even hit the cold, den floor.
Did you know, that you and I are indestructible, as children of God, until He calls us home?
Are you fearing what man can do, instead of your Living God? He is more than able to keep you safe in His scared side, like a parent carrying a child on hip.
Step out in faith.
Be obedient today.
Choose to be free.
Come as a child, in reckless abandon, leaving fear at the foot of the cross.
