Women… it’s time to be honest… cut throat honest. Our minds are a battlefield. Each day, we may start out with good intentions… but they may be that, at the very least… our good intentions. Each day, hour by hour, we need to give our attention to the Lord; lest anger, pride, jealousy, bitterness, spring up and choke us of the truth that will make us free. What is that truth? God’s precious Word.
Are we giving our attention to fairy tale dreams as we watch those romantic movies or shows?
Married women: are we finding joy and happiness in “other things and people” when we should be finding our joy in the husband that God gave us?
There is a great danger when we drift away from fulfilling not only their needs, but not letting our husband fulfill our needs as well! (I’m not only talking about sexual, but emotional, spiritual, physical, etc.)
Let me be a bit clearer: When we find our enjoyment and passion of life in that hobby, that television show, that movie, indulging in that food, those friendships on the computer. . . and have no excitement left to give (and be given) with regard to our husband, we are in a dangerous place!
His Holy Word purifies our mind and heart from the imperfections that this world taints us with. Let us be proactive (meditating on scripture).
Imagine you are lost, deep within a dark, thick forest. You try desperately to find your way out. Everywhere you turn, your shoulder brushes against a sharp bush full of jagged thistle. With all your might you seek to find the light to that open field; the blood seeping forth from your forearm, reminds you that you are stuck, with no shoulder room to avoid the blow of your surroundings.
What do you do? Run a little faster? Certainly not, for this would cut you a little deeper. Do you sit, and stay? This would stop you from getting cut, for a time, but you would be that much further from freedom!
Then you remember that God’s Word is quick and powerful, sharper than any two edge sword. You begin to recall scripture, to meditate on its truths. And then, and only then, can God cut through that shrubbery and make a path towards that beautiful open field. You do not need to search for the way out, for He has cut you a path, if you just follow His lead.
