Today my daughter could not have been any more mismatched. She proudly sported an orange hair band, purple shirt, bright red skirt, black leggings, and brown shoes. HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
Enough to push me over the edge. I’m learning to let things go. To not be so OCD. (Side note: I only allow her to dress like this in the comfort of our own home)
When my daughter was born, I use to match her pacifier to what she was wearing. She was the packaged deal. Matching binky, socks, bib, and outfit. A little crazy, I know. I’m over that. Kind of. Okay I’m not, but I can pretend to be!
A three year old can be as mismatched as they want to be, and walk around with their head held high.
But what about our christian life? Does what we say, match up with how we are living? Should it? Most certainly!
James talks about it:
James 1: 22-25
“But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his face in a glass: for he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therin, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.”
Does your life match up with what you say you believe? If it does then take heed, lest you fall. Stay in the WORD. Every day. We need it more than our very breath. More than food.
If your life doesn’t match up, don’t feel condemned. But know that you should sit and examine yourself.
Psalm 139:23-24 says “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”
Have you been away from your LORD? If you truly know Jesus as Lord and Savior, you will be miserable in your sin. Until you return to Him, and get back in the center of His will.
If you don’t know Him, won’t you invite Him into your life today? Here’s how (Click Below):
So, I will let my daughter be as mismatched as she wants. From her head down to her toes. . . but not my life! I need to constantly be checking in with my Father. To look into the mirror of His Holy Word. To see of my words, match with my life.
What about you? What are your thoughts? On life, or can you PLEASE relate to my OCD tendencies to match everything? Please? Anyone?

You know that I’m all over this! LOL.
Your paragraph, “Does your life match up with what you say you believe? If it does then take heed, lest you fall. Stay in the WORD. Every day. We need it more than our very breath. More than food.”, speaks volumes to me! God’s Word must be forever flowing in my life.

My daughter comes up with some real doozy outfits too. I let her pick whatever she wants when we are at home, but I do have some say when we go out in public.
I like the new look of your blog.

Haaahaaaaa! I am not OCD, but I can definitely relate to the non-matching kids! I don’t stress over it– funny, now that I think of it, my kids actually ask me if we will be leaving the house before they get dressed because they know they can’t go to Wegman’s dressed like a clown! I don’t mind ( so much!) what they wear at home because I’m more concerned about the condition of their hearts… :))

what fun!!! i still struggle with the whole mismatched outfits – my oldest is pretty fashion savvy when it comes to which outfits go together, but my middle? she thinks underwear are shirts.
as for the mismatched life – Jesus has been making me aware of the areas that need to be examined, so i loved reading what you wrote. thank you.
love you!

Yes, I have to have everything matching too. It is crazy. altough right now I am letting my kids wear the mismatched socks because they actually sell them that way and they are adorable. But only because they sell them that way:)

Fantastic post! I think we all need to remind ourselves of this everyday & pray that we give a good example of what a Christian really is to others daily!
